We specialize in complex transmissions like the vintage Buick Dynaflow and Flight Pitch, band type Hydra-Matic, Packard Ultramatic and Twin-Ultramatic, the Jetaway (Model 315), 'Slim Jim' Roto-Hydramatic, the iron Torqueflite and Powerflite, Corvette iron and aluminum Powerglides, the Turboglide plus all Borg-Warner design automatics (both two- and three-band types). Buick Dynaflow rebuilds...Just like the "Dynaflow Doctor" ordered! '53 Skylark assembly about ready to ship cross-country.

Packard Ultramatic and Twin-Ultramatic—blueprint-level rebuilding every time!

The Buick Dynaflow (upper photos) and Packard Ultramatic transmissions (lower photos) require careful restoration. A superficial rebuild-kit "overhaul" will overlook the close-tolerance wear points. By contrast, our shop restores each member of the transmission to factory standards or better—using factory data and specifications to achieve "blueprint" level results! This includes parts reconditioning or renewal at every wear and friction point, assuring balance and true running of each component. Caution:  Vintage automatic transmissions seldom benefit from a penny-pinching "rebuild kit" overhaul! Our shop uses precision tooling, factory data and the very best materials to assure close-tolerance restoration of each transmission. Every wear point in the transmission is reconditioned and restored to factory tolerances...The finished product performs as new—or better!

"Thank you, Moses, it has been an absolute pleasure working with your shop...Here at Canepa Design we deal with many businesses related to the exotic and luxury car market.  We also deal with many professional race car teams.  Most of our vendors come very highly regarded in the automobile industry.  I must say that the service you provided, the detailed communication, and timely execution of our order, ranks you at the very top of this list."—The note following completion of a vintage Dynaflow transmission project for Canepa Design, Scotts Valley, California

"I opened the crate and saw this 'new' Dynaflow that you created...Wow! Now I know the difference between a transmission 'restoration' and the 'overhauls' that other shops have done...The photos of your work tell me the inside of the transmission is just as perfect as the outside!"—Rodger M., valued customer and owner of a '53 Buick Skylark

"The T-Bird's transmission shifts beautifully...Thanks for your attention to customer satisfaction...Please use me as a reference—anytime!"—Jim W., owner of a pristine 1957 Thunderbird with Ford-O-Matic transmission—professionally rebuilt and detailed at the MosesLudel.Com Shop

Rebuilding a complex iron band-type Hydra-Matic or vintage Dynaflow—like the transmissions found in the 'Triple Crown'  1953 Buick Skylark, Oldsmobile Fiesta or Cadillac El Dorado convertibles—deserves this level of craftsmanship! Contact us to discuss your classic or muscle car's transmission needs...

►Rebuilding manual and manual/overdrive transmissions and axles—1910s through Muscle Car Era manual and overdrive three-speed transmissions, all vintage Corvette three- and four-speed manual transmissions plus the New Process, Saginaw, Borg-Warner and Ford muscle car four-speed manual transmissions...When necessary, an obsolete and damaged gear set can be restored!

At left is the axle assembly from a 1949 Briggs Cunningham 'Silverstone' Healey, essentially a banjo early Ford center section with inboard brakes. This axle upgrade now handles 400 horsepower at the track. The T-10 B-W four-speed receives similar attention, a "blueprint" rebuild for an Australian customer's 1965 K-Model Mustang. Overdrive and straight sticks, classic through muscle car era, are commonly on our benches. Customers ship us transmissions, axles, center-sections and steering gears.

"I could not get traction with the Silverstone before your custom axle work. The built up Caddy V-8's horsepower was simply too much...Now, I'm hooking up and turning heads on the race circuit...Thanks, Moses!"—Allan C., owner of a legendary 1949 Cunningham Silverstone Healey historic race car

"There were no Mustang T-10 transmissions available locally, and nobody has your expertise on these Borg-Warner transmissions...It was great working with your shop in the 'States, you solved all of our problems, including upgrading the transmission to 28-spline output!"—Pete M., a valued Australian customer with a '65 Mustang GT

Every classic or muscle car deserves this level of workmanship...Contact us to discuss your  project!

►Classic and muscle car steering gear rebuilding—Saginaw Offset, Saginaw Inline and Saginaw Rotary power steering gears, Chrysler coaxial and Chrysler Constant Control, Ford manual and  integral power steering gears, all Ross manual and power steering gears, all Gemmer manual and power steering gear assemblies plus the Gemmer Hydraguide...

Vintage pre-war, '50s and Muscle Car era steering gears receive factory-level attention. Top row is a '68 Shelby GT500KR gear that cooked for four decades beside a 428 CJ exhaust manifold. Bottom row (left photo) shows a Gemmer Hydraguide from a vintage Oliver 880 tractor, essentially a Saginaw Inline design and similar to the 1956 Pontiac's Saginaw Inline gear shown second to left...Two photos at right depict a "matching numbers" Saginaw Rotary Valve power gear assembly, using an original housing and internals to assure correct ratios and performance. This is precision work, and each gear is rebuilt to 'blueprint' standards.

"The restored Ross steering gear looks and functions like new in the R180 fire truck!"—Riverview I-H Truck, Sacramento, California

"Our '68 Shelby just won top honors at the Infineon Raceway gathering of the Northern California Shelby owners...Your 428CJ engine rebuild grabbed everyone's attention!  The steering gear work made the car handle beautifully...Thanks, again!"—Rick and Kathy S., owners of a 1968 Shelby-registered GT500KR Mustang convertible

"The dual-quad 318 Fury engine has received a lot of attention...The Torqueflite shifts beautifully...The power steering gear works flawlessly!"—Shop manager after installing the engine, transmission and steering gear assemblies, sublet to the MosesLudel.Com Shop for professional rebuilding and restoration

Plan to drive your classic or muscle car?  Who do you trust with your steering gear? For expert, safety-conscious steering gear rebuilding, contact us. At the MosesLudel.Com Shop, each steering gear assembly is professionally restored and tested to function as new...

►Custom TIG (GTAW) welding and machine shop services for gear and casting restoration—Yes, many vintage automotive gear systems can be restored, including obsolete transmissions, steering gears and axle/differential gear sets! The MosesLudel.Com Shop restores damaged and obsolete spur or helical gears, worm gears, damaged housings and castings made of aluminum or iron materials.

Top row is a T-85N Borg-Warner ovedrive's cluster gear, now obsolete and showing common 1st gear engagement tooth damage (top left photo). Custom restoration work has renewed these gear teeth...Bottom row is a vintage Ford spider gear and cross-pin set, "welded" at our customer's request to perform in a vintage racing application. Time-honored welded spider pinions create a "spool" effect. This project benefits from modern materials and brace engineering...All TIG welding follows rigid industry metallurgical and post-weld heat treating (PWHT) standards. Select welding rod for each project is metallurgically compatible with the base metals and suited specifically to each application. Rockwell testing, normalizing, TIG welding and heat treatment are essential steps in the process.

"We wanted to keep the original 3-speed overdrive in our classic Ford F-100 truck. By restoring the obsolete cluster gear, you enabled us to keep the exact transmission we wanted...After the cluster gear work and your 'Signature Edition' rebuild, the transmission functions like new...Thanks!"—Don L., owner of a vintage Ford F-truck with the rare T-85N Borg-Warner transmission
